Application

The application process begins with the online submission of an application form, certified birth certificate, immunization records, Pastor Recommendation Form, and Teacher Recommendation Form, along with the $100.00 non-refundable fee. The goal of the process is to help you understand Faith Christian School and its distinction as a College Preparatory, Christian School. Campus tours and/or classroom observations are available and, in fact, encouraged.

Tours and information sessions are best scheduled in advance in order to guarantee the availability of someone to speak with you personally. We encourage classroom visits for students in grades 3 – 12. This visit can help your student better understand the FCS culture and make social connections. A member of our present student body is assigned to go through the day with your child to act as a guide and answer questions about FCS from a student perspective. ALL forms with appropriate signatures may be mailed directly to FCS, Attention: Admissions.

Evaluation

Once we have received the application for admission and all required forms, the school will request any additional records from the current school and schedule an appointment for entrance testing. The purpose of entrance testing is to assist the admissions committee triangulate all academic, social, emotional, and spiritual information for an informed decision. Details about the screening are as follows:

  • Pre-K/Kindergarten: A developmental checklist for placement is required for Pre-K students and a developmental screening is required for Kindergarten. The developmental screening is used to evaluate younger students in the areas of fine/gross motor skills, speech/language processing, academic ability as well as social and emotional development.

  • Grades 1 – 12: General testing for placement is required of all new students. Your child will be given an admissions test covering mathematics, language, reading, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing.

Interview

Once the application and evaluation process is complete, an individual family/student interview is scheduled. This interview will involve at least one, preferably both parents, the student applicant (6th grade and older), the Head of School, and a School Board Representative. Discussion will center around all application documents, educational records, the student’s desire to attend FCS, and student/parent testimony of a personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The results of the entrance testing will also be shared at that time.

Acceptance

Enrollment for returning FCS students is held annually by mid-February. Present students and new students from current families receive priority for registration during this time. After the re-enrollment period, new applications will be processed. After the interview, the admission committee will meet and families will be notified of enrollment status. For a nominal fee, interested families may contact the Enrollment Office to be placed on a wait list for upcoming school years. This allows your application to be processed first, but does not guarantee acceptance unless all entrance requirements are met.

FCS views enrollment as a partnership with families. Scripture places the responsibility of helping children develop primarily in the home relationship. However, Christian Education serves as a great support option for Christian homes.  As a part of this support system, FCS promotes school policies, Statement of Faith, student outcomes, and school wide initiatives/guidelines in an effort to assist with student maturity - spiritually, intellectually, socially, and emotionally.
