Arts Education
At Faith Christian School we strive for excellence in the
fine arts (music, theatre, visual art) by providing curricular,
co-curricular, and extracurricular opportunities for our students.
When students focus on the arts, they are also acquiring essential skills
which will transfer to learning in other classes and to living a rich and
full life beyond their school years.
The benefits of arts education, as outlined in National Standards for Arts
Education[1], include the ability of the arts to teach
decision making, problem solving, creative thinking, analysis, cooperation,
communication, confidence, flexibility, and leadership.
As God created the universe and all within it, He has given us the ability
to create as an expression of our human experience. Through the arts
we gain greater understanding of the experiences of various cultures and
time periods. The arts are an expression of what is most relevant to a
society and will communicate a truth in a way that connects the artist with
the audience beyond the scope of time and place. This connection also
allows us to glimpse the ultimate Creator.
